In a first for the diocese, and the ultimate step in her devout calling, Janine Fair recently made her Life Vow for the Single Consecrated Life (SCL).
Throughout August and into the beginning of September, across the Diocese of Leicester, a number of people - young and old - made a commitment to God, sharing their faith stories and celebrating with their church communities, friends, and families.
Earlier this month, as part of Creationtide, people from around the diocese came together at All Saints Church in Loughborough for the second Eco Church Conversations event.
During August, the Church of the Martyrs hosted a culturally vibrant service to celebrate South Asian Heritage Month, welcoming 140 people of all ages from around the diocese.
Earlier in August, the Church of the Martyrs in Leicester gathered 20 young adults and university students for a sizzling BBQ and conversation with Bishop Saju. The group represented a diversity of cultural backgrounds who came together not only to share food but also to share fellowship.
A reflective service on the eve of the 80th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day) was held In Leicester Cathedral on Thursday (14 August). The occasion was attended by a congregation including civic dignitaries and esteemed military guests representing the city and county, marking the 80th anniversary of VJ Day and the end of the Second World War.
What makes a saint? Not halos, not headlines, but hands. In this video Bishop Saju reflects on the life and death of St Wistan and asks us to consider how God might be calling us to serve Him.
Throughout June and into the beginning of July, a number of our worshipping communities welcomed and witnessed members of their church families taking the next step on their faith journeys.
SoundCafe Leicester ended the summer season in song and celebration at St Mary de Castro Church with the formal licensing of the Revd Tony Leighton as leader for this BMO (Bishop’s Mission Order).
The licensing of the Revd Crystal McAllister, as Interim Oversight Minister in the Launde Deanery Minster Community, was held during morning prayer on Tuesday 1 July at Bishop’s Lodge.
