A meeting of the Diocesan Synod took place on Saturday 17 May at St Martins House in Leicester, with an agenda that covered a range of topics including finance, education, and safeguarding.
It has been a busy month of baptisms and confirmations, as we’ve witnessed a host of people, young and old - and from the breadth of the diocese across all its diversity - make a commitment to Christ. Bishop Martyn and Bishop Saju shared significant moments with our worshipping communities, joining parishioners on their journeys in faith, and praying together for God’s kingdom to come on earth as in heaven.
Everyone is warmly invited to attend the services of ordination taking place in Leicester Cathedral this Petertide.
The latest event in the Bishop’s Chaplaincy Lecture Series proved to be a thought-provoking evening with the Revd Dr Israel Olofinjana, exploring the subject of Decolonising the Church - an Intercultural Approach.
It was a time of celebration in the Diocese of Leicester as church, school and community united to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day).
As part of his calling to raise-up local charities doing work to support those most vulnerable in the diocese, Bishop Martyn recently paid a visit to Baby Basics Leicester.
It was an unforgettable occasion for SoundCafe Leicester volunteers earlier this month as the charity was presented with the Kings Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) by Mr. Mike Kapur, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire.
Following the death of Pope Francis, aged 88, on Easter Monday morning, Bishop Martyn and Bishop Saju paid tribute to his Holiness.
The Mothers’ Union Leicester Diocese held their Annual Spring Members’ Forum at St Wilfrid's Church in Kibworth on Saturday 5 April during which Bishop Martyn commissioned the new Diocesan Mothers’ Union President, Ruth Fryer, and Board of Trustees - Sue Wilson, Noreen Mewies, Eileen Payne, Margaret Rouse and Mary Clarkson.
In their Easter message, The Rt Revd Martyn Snow, Bishop of Leicester and the Rt Revd Saju Muthalaly, Bishop of Loughborough reflect on the ways and places we might 'recognise' Jesus.
