Salt of the earth: the Bishop of Loughborough’s Lent 2020 Pilgrimage
Bishop Guli is encouraging clergy to reply to her recent letter with expressions of interest for places to visit as part of her planned Lent Pilgrimage in 2020 ‘Salt of the earth’. She is seeking ideas that will help celebrate well-established projects, reflect on work done, or to bless new beginnings. No project is too small.

The Grove series of books are fantastic resources for providing the Christian community with clear and concise explorations of Christian living and ministry. “Not the last word, but often the first”. They provide brief, clear, quality thinking that address contemporary issues. There are nine series of books on biblical studies, education, ethics, evangelism, leadership, pastoral, ministry, spirituality, worship and youth. Each series gets a new title each quarter, and at Christian Resources we get a copy of each one for you to have a look at.

Are you offering all your churchgoers the opportunity to give?
Now that summer is over and we look forward to the term ahead, we start planning services that draw in larger congregations such as Harvest and Christmas. One of the truths facing us as custodians of our churches is that the use of cash in our society is declining. Many people simply don’t carry cash, and if we don’t think about how we can enable everyone to give, we restrict the opportunity for people to express their gratitude to God and to deepen their discipleship.

Severe Floods Hit Our Link Diocese in India
Valparai, a hill station in Tamilnadu where tea plantations and the related works are the main focus of the lives of the local people, is badly affected by the recent incessant rains that have fallen across southern India and the floods that followed.

RIDE+STRIDE – Saturday 14 September, 2019 – fundraising so far and final upd
We have raised over £1,100 + Gift Aid as at 5 September which is a fantastic start – please help us increase that mightily. There are lots of ways to sponsor us. We also have the final list of churches involved.

The One Roof Shelter needs your support
The One Roof Shelter is a year-round shelter offering rough sleepers somewhere to stay overnight. Launching this September, the shelter will provide a warm and welcoming environment for guests – those who find themselves homeless. Guests can relax and feel safe – spending the evening with volunteers chatting (in many languages), playing games and drinking tea and coffee. Building on the success of the Winter Night Shelter, One Roof needs people like you to make the Shelter a success.

Invite to all Vergers from across the diocese
The Church of England Guild of Vergers would like to invite all Vergers (volunteer or paid; those who open up and attend to the church for services etc) to a special Choral Evensong at Leicester Cathedral on 19 September at 5.30pm.

Diocesan Conference Bookstall with books written and recommended by speakers

The national Research and Stats team have mapped government statistics onto parish boundaries to produce parish-level census and deprivation information.
