As we bring you the final edition of Diomail for 2025 and look forward with renewed hope to the birth of Christ, we mark the many baptisms and confirmations that have taken place across the diocese during November and December.
Our Bishops travelled the length and breadth of the diocese throughout the year, joining our congregations in prayer, praise, and celebration.
A host of wonderful people - young, old and every age in between, across our many and diverse worshipping communities - made a commitment to Jesus Christ with the support of their church, family and friends.
We give thanks to God for all those who were baptised and confirmed, and for those who support them on their journey in faith.
During November, Bishop Luke Irvine-Capel, the Bishop of Richborough, joined the Patronal Mass celebrations at St. Hugh’s Church in Eyres Monsell, administering the Sacrament of confirmation to four candidates, Rashid, Ann and Natasha, from St Hugh, and Aiden from St. James’ Church, Huncote.
The service was described as “a deeply moving and beautiful celebration.”
Back again and rejoicing in Jesus Christ the Universal King at St Chad’s Church in Leicester, Bishop Luke baptised and confirmed candidates from St Chad’s, including Aitzaz and Carol, and William and Florence from All Saints Church in Scraptoft.
At the end of the month, a baptism and confirmation service within the Goscote Deanery took place at Rothley Parish Church.
Bishop Martyn joined the church communities of those sharing their journeys in faith, including Stephanie, Suzanne, Alexandra, Maereen, K Elaine, Josh, Jade, Ric and James. You can read their testimonies here.
And, at the Church of the Martyrs in Leicester, Bishop Saju celebrated and worshipped with many from the communities of several churches in the city, baptising Saryah, Sean, Ella, Ivana, Jovan and Imaansha of the Martyrs, and confirming Daniel, Rachel, Tom, Sophie, Aiden and Georgina, as well as Blake from St Margaret’s Church and Stephanie of St Mary’s, Humberstone.
Finally, it was a joyful occasion at St Paul with St Augustine Worship Centre early in December, when Bishop Saju joined the church community to baptise and confirm four candidates, Gary, Ghazal, Khashayar and Cas. You can read their testimonies here.
