Sisters Shining a Light on the Unseen Women of the Bible

As a source of study and reflection during Lent, the ‘Sisters’ of the Church of the Martyrs in Leicester are concentrating on stories of the ‘unseen’ women of the Bible, shedding light on the lives and characters of women often overlooked in Scripture, but deeply significant in God’s redemptive plan.

Exhibition Celebrates Life in Leicester

5th March 2026

An exhibition celebrating life in Leicester is on display at Leicester Museum. Showcasing the findings from the Living Together oral history project, which has been led by St Philip’s Centre and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this project documents the stories of 103 people who today call Leicester home, but come from a variety of backgrounds.

One in Christ: Global Carol Service Unites

It was a colourful celebration of unity and diversity as the Diocese of Leicester hosted its annual Global Carol Service for 2025 at St Paul’s Church in Oadby. The evening drew congregations, schools, chaplaincies and a diverse range of communities from across the diocese for an evening of worship through music, dance, poetry and prayer.

Sharing Life, Faith and Fellowship with the Bishop of Kiteto

It was a whistle stop tour of the diocese for Bishop Bethuel and Bishop Mama Agnes of the Diocese of Kiteto in Tanzania, when they recently made their first ever visit to Leicester. During their stay, the Bishop and his wife travelled through the rural heart and urban heartlands of the diocese, to experience life, faith and fellowship across the city and county in which we worship.

Interfaith Round Table in Parliament

6th November 2025

Bishop Martyn recently attended a high-level interfaith discussion in the House of Lords. Representatives of different faith communities were present, including the new Minister of State for Faith and Communities, Miatta Fahnbulleh, and the new interfaith adviser to the Prime Minister, Dilwar Hussain.

Introducing the Diocese of Leicester’s Ministry Experience Scheme Class of 25/26

We are delighted to have 12 participants enrolled on the Church of England Ministry Experience Scheme this academic year. They will be serving a range of churches across the Diocese of Leicester and engaging with a breadth of ministry including children and youth work, social action, community engagement, schools, worship and creative media.

The Sound of Power and Pride – Black History Month Concert

27th October 2025

On Saturday 18 October the Diocese of Leicester hosted its first ever Black History Month concert, ‘The Sound of Power and Pride’, at HTL Church Leicester. Over 250 attendees were greeted with ambient tones of The Halls String Quartet.
