Call to prayer for Lambeth Conference as Link Diocese guests arrive in Leicester

Guests from our link dioceses are begining to arrive in Leicester ahead of the 15th Lambeth Conference which takes place from 26 July to 8 August in Canterbury and London.

Bishop Martyn and Bishop Saju have asked us to pray for the Conference which will see a gathering of bishops from across the Anglican Communion for prayer and reflection, fellowship and dialogue on church and world affairs. You can find the official prayer guide here.

Bishop Saju has also created a video asking us to pray for the conference. He says the Conference will be focussing on asking 'What will it mean to be God's church for God's world in the years ahead?' and added: "I am looking forward to sitting around the text of 1 Peter and learn from my sisters and brothers around the world. Please pray, and remember, we live on a wonderful little lump of land in the middle of the sea but we are not an island, we are part of something far, far bigger."

Bishops from some overseas Anglican dioceses will be joining us in Leicester and there will be a reception with civic guests for all of our international visitors on Friday. At the weekend the new Bishop of Wyoming, one of our link dicoeses, will be in Leicester and there will be a special service run by the Cathedral in St Martins House Grand Hall on Sunday.

There is also a tea meeting on Friday 22 July, open to all, in Leicester when the Bishop of Kiteto and their Mothers' Union President will be asking for our help with a propject tackling child marriage in their country, Tanzania: See more here.

We will report on some of the activities and events which the visiting dicoeses and bishops take part in over the coming weeks.
