Creationtide is a month of unity, when Christians around the world celebrate the beauty and wonder of creation and commit to caring for our common home.
During August, the Church of the Martyrs hosted a culturally vibrant service to celebrate South Asian Heritage Month, welcoming 140 people of all ages from around the diocese.
As the new school year begins, so too does the next chapter of our diocesan Journey in Faith (JiF) course. If you are seeking to grow in your knowledge of the Christian Faith, deepen your relationship with God and explore how to live out your faith in your whole life, then JiF is a great place to start.
Earlier in August, the Church of the Martyrs in Leicester gathered 20 young adults and university students for a sizzling BBQ and conversation with Bishop Saju. The group represented a diversity of cultural backgrounds who came together not only to share food but also to share fellowship.
During June the churchyard of St Peter’s Church in Horninghold came alive with the sound of music and the joyful ring of children’s laughter, dogs barking and ‘bubbly’ conversation.
This year, the Download Chaplaincy Team had a real sense of walking on holy ground. A team of 60 ecumenical chaplains from across the country gathered on a dusty field at Donington Park to welcome 80,000 festival goers. It was hot, it was dusty, it was fun, and it was very loud!
Every Saturday night in Loughborough, a small team walks the streets wearing blue uniforms and offering more than just a presence—they bring a ministry of care, compassion, and Christ’s love. These are the Loughborough Street Pastors.
It has been a busy month of baptisms and confirmations, as we’ve witnessed a host of people, young and old - and from the breadth of the diocese across all its diversity - make a commitment to Christ. Bishop Martyn and Bishop Saju shared significant moments with our worshipping communities, joining parishioners on their journeys in faith, and praying together for God’s kingdom to come on earth as in heaven.
Has your church filled in the Energy Footprint Tool (EFT) yet? Preserving our precious gift of creation is something we should be thinking about and acting upon every day as Christians. One of the ways churches can tackle climate change is through reducing the carbon released from their buildings into the atmosphere.
The Diocese of Leicester successfully secured up to £148,500 from the Church Commissioners’ Minor Repairs & Improvements scheme to distribute during the financial year 2024 to 2025 in order to support parishes in the upkeep of their buildings by making minor ‘stitch in time’ repairs or to facilitate small improvements to aid the mission and ministry of the local church.
