On Sunday 26 November, Bishop Saju visited Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurudwara in Leicester, together with Tom Wilson from the St Philip’s Centre.
The visit was part of the Bishops’ regular programme of engagements with Leicester’s diverse faith communities, as an expression of our diocesan value of loving service of the world.
Like churches, gurdwaras are often busiest on Sundays, and this visit was scheduled to coincide with Guru Nanak’s Gurpurab (birthday), an especially important time for Sikhs.
Bishop Saju was shown around the recently renovated building and met with members of the community, for tea and theological discussion.
Tom Wilson said: “I’m very grateful to Kartar Singh Bring for guiding us through the visit, especially at such a busy time. It was fantastic for us to chat with regular congregants, to see the refurbished gurdwara, learn more about the work done in the community, and discuss our similarities and differences.
"It fits in beautifully with the Centre’s aim of helping people learn how to live well together.”
