Festival of Angels Brings Community Spirit to Castle Donington

St Edward’s Church in Castle Donington was taken over by a heavenly host just before Christmas as the church and community celebrated its much-loved Festival of Angels.

From delicate paper designs to intricately knitted creations and floral tributes, hundreds of angels had been beautifully crafted for the occasion, and included artworks by local primary school children, the church toddler group and neighbouring businesses.

Among the highlights was a stunning eight-foot tall “Recycled Angel,” made entirely from repurposed materials - a powerful reminder of sustainability and the beauty of giving new life to old items.

Visitors were invited to admire the many angels, reflect on the season’s message of hope, and celebrate the joy of working together as church and community.
Everyone attending Christmas services at St. Edward's and St. Nicholas' Church in Lockington, received an angel to take home.
