Confirmations and Commitments of Faith: November and December

As the end of the year draws closer and we get ready to celebrate the birth of Christ, the final baptisms, confirmations, and commitments of faith for 2023, have taken place around the diocese.
Our Bishops travelled the length and breadth of the diocese during the year, joining our worshipping communities in prayer, praise, and celebration.

During November, Bishop Martyn joined the congregation of St Peter’s Church in Glenfield to baptise George and confirm Karen, Peter, Kathryn and Chloe.
Addressing each candidate by name, the Bishop anointed them with oil and prayed for their continued journeys in faith. Those confirmed also shared their faith stories.

Later in the month, Bishop Roger Jupp and Fr Andrew Lee, led a celebratory service of confirmation at St Hugh’s Church in Eyres Monsell.
Philippa, Reuben, Nicholas and Kevin from St Hugh’s, and Andrew and Mitchell from St James the Greater in Huncote, made their commitment in front of their church, family, and friends.

Most recently, in early December, Bishop Saju visited St Edward’s Church in Castle Donington where he confirmed Steve, Mary and Dawn, and honoured the reaffirmation of Janet and Richard’s confirmation promises. The candidates, from both St Botolph’s Church in Shepshed and St Edward’s, received the light of Christ and shared in a celebratory cake, cut by Bishop Saju, following the service.
