As part of Interfaith week 2021, Bishop Martyn visited Masjid Al Falah on Thursday 18 November, accompanied by Tom Wilson and Riaz Ravat of the St Philip’s Centre. They were hosted by President of the Masjid, Abdulkarim Gheewala. They discussed experiences of the pandemic, met the congregation after lunchtime prayers, and shared lunch together. The conversation shifted from the prosaic (why is it that contactless giving increased during the height of the pandemic but has dropped back now?) to the more serious (how do we ensure those who are unable to venture out are properly included as we return to more in-person worship?) and the future focused (how do we ensure our communities mix and continue learning how to live well together?). We are very grateful to Abdulkarim and all those at the mosque for the opportunity to meet again in person and hope the next opportunity will not be too far away.
