Much celebration has taken place over the weekend as 10 priests were ordained on Saturday and 15 deacons were ordained on Sunday, all of whom already are, or will be, serving in parish contexts within the diocese.
On Saturday afternoon services took place around the diocese. At the service at St Catherine, Burbage Pauline Cummins, Ros Harper and Dawn Matthew were ordained priest. Nick Baker, Matthew Creber-Davies, Maria Jukes and Rob Leveritt were then ordainded priest at a service at St Thomas, South Wigston and at a service at St Peter and St Paul, Syston Crystal McAllister, Paul Emberton and Biddy Saunders were also ordained priest.
On Sunday two services took place at Leicester Cathedral with Kas Brown, Luke Dobson, Tom Grant, Stephen March, Charles Ndigirwa, Rhianne O’Rourke, Steve O’Rourke, David Palmer, Paul Betts, Liz Piki, Manuela Schmuki, Ali Simpson-Smith, Steve Sweet, Kate Szejnmann and Ben Williams being ordainded deacon.
