A Celebration of New Beginnings and a Commitment to Shared Ministry

It was a celebration of new beginnings and a commitment to shared ministry as The Revd Julia Bradshaw was licenced as Anglican Chaplain at HMP Gartree, recently.

Joined by colleagues and friends, the service of welcome was held in the prison chapel and led by Jeanne Moore, Methodist Chaplain representing the different denominations who share ministry at Gartree including ecumenical partners, clergy colleagues, readers, members of Local Ministry Teams and lay leaders.

Formerly deacon at Leicester Cathedral, Revd Julia was presented to Bishop Saju by The Revd Canon Alison Adams, with whom she served alongside and shared ministry and life together.

Revd Julia said: “I feel privileged to work at Gartree as a Chaplain. Every day so far has been different, and my hopes are that I will help everyone I encounter to grow spiritually.
“Going from the Cathedral to Gartree is a complete change of life and pace. Cathedral life has given me the confidence to go on to my new ministry as Prison Chaplain.”
