Global Carol Service 2022

Yesterday (11 December) over 170 people gathered for the diocesan Global Carol Service, held at the Church of the Martyrs. Christians from around the world and from across traditions gathered to celebrate the way in which our shared stories connect with the story of the birth of Christ.

The service had contributions from more than a dozen cultures and languages, including contributions from a Zimbabwean Choir and a Tamil Choir. Christians from around the diocese shared stories of their memories of Christmas from their cultures on the themes of preparing to celebrate and preparing for change.

Bishop Saju preached on Matthew 2: 1-12, highlighting the prevalence and importance of the global majority within the Christmas Story, and reflecting on how this impacts the way we welcome people in our churches today.

The Global Carol Service is part of the vision of the diocese to continue to grow how intercultural we are.  If you’ve interested in some of the events we’ve got planned for the start of 2023, please see the flyer here.
