Resident Chaplain, Launde Abbey

Launde Abbey is looking for its next Resident Chaplain to join the permanent praying and working community.

They will share responsibility with the Warden, Deputy Warden and other members of the Ministry Team for the ministry and mission of Launde Abbey, and for contributing to its work of hospitality in support of that ministry. Because we have a daily Anglican eucharist, the Chaplain will be an ordained Anglican priest and they work for the equivalent of three - four days per week.

The Chaplain reports to the Warden and shares responsibility for fulfilling the vision and objectives agreed with the trustees and for cultivating the ethos of Launde Abbey as a place of prayer, hospitality, community and sanctuary.

The post of Resident Chaplain is a voluntary one with accommodation provided in a two-bed cottage on-site with utilities provided. It is a beautiful place to live and work. Although the job advertised and for which we will appoint is a single post of Chaplain, the house is suitable for a working couple, and there may be opportunities for paid or unpaid work for a suitable second person once on site.

The appointment is envisaged to last between two and five years.
