Grants to Churches and Ride+Stride News from the LeicesterShire Historic Churches Trust

Grants totalling £11,750 have been awarded to eight churches at the Trust's grants meeting on 18 May. The funds for these grants come from the Trust's share of money raised through RIDE+STRIDE 2020 which raised more than £37,900.


Properties needed for One Roof Night Shelter

Can you help those who might be sleeping rough next winter? New Government regulations in the wake of the pandemic mean that the traditional Night Shelter, accommodating around a dozen people at risk of rough sleeping during the coldest nights of the year, will not be permissible this coming winter. So, One Roof Leicester (of which the Diocese is a member) is asking if you know of any properties that you think would be suitable that they could potentially use and have on a 3 year or more lease? 


Cleaning church buildings in preparation for re-opening or in between uses

As restrictions ease, PCCs may be considering the questions of how to clean their church building appropriately in order to prepare for re-opening and what kind of cleaning is required in between uses.


APCM Election Results 202

At the end of April I will be sending an email from the Database to all DCC/PCC Secretaries asking you to confirm and update/amend the list of PCC Officers. Please don't email the changes in but use the link in the email to see the list the Diocese currently holds and make any necessary changes. There is no need to tell us that you've completed the update either.


Diocesan Chrism Service

Everyday Spirituality - a series of gatherings to explore spiritual habits that deepen our faith.  It is open to anyone – the curious, those who are novices in spiritual practices and the more seasoned pilgrim. 


Farewell Service and Gift for Bishop Guli

We can now confirm that Bishop's Guli leaving service will take place on Sunday 25th April at 3pm. She will be working in the diocese up to Easter Day and will then have a break before the leaving service and the start of her new ministry in Chelmsford.


Free and personalised (to your church!) online giving video

The Church of England has produced an online giving animation your church can easily personalise and use to promote online giving in your church.  The video explains how important and valued gifts to your church are and how people can give online.


Grant opportunity- Second round of the Culture Recovery Fund open for applications

The second round of the Cultural Recovery Fund opens for applications on 7 January and will close on 26 January 2021.  This second round offers grants of between £10,000 and £3m to support organisations, including faith organisations that manage listed places of worship,  with the costs to make the transition towards full reopening, covering the period April-June 2021. The focus of the fund is on re-opening and welcoming people back – whether visitors, communities or commercial partners.
