Digital Theology Seminar
26th November 2020
26 November, 1.30-5pm
All clergy and licensed lay ministers will be receiving an invitation from Bishop Martyn to a special seminar being organized to enable us to think about online church from a theological perspective.
Some clergy and lay leaders have welcomed and been excited by the opportunities presented by online forms of church and digital mission, others have found them more of a struggle. This is the first of two planned webinar style seminars in the diocese to start a conversation to explore the changing relationship between digital and physical spaces and its impact on the church. Rev Dr Peter Phillips from the Centre for Digital Theology will be joining us as the main speaker, as well as Bex Lewis (formerly of the Centre for Digital Theology at Durham University and a regular writer and speaker on issues around digital theology) and Pam Lewis who leads iChurch in Oxford Diocese. The event will contain a mixture of theological reflection and a chance to think about hybrid church.

Book into the webinar by emailing us on
This event should provide a great opportunity for thinking and dialogue around issues which all churches and church leaders will need to be grappling as we look to the future. A follow-up seminar is planned for 3 December to focus on considerations around the Eucharist and online church.
