It is with sadness that we announce the death of The Revd Peter Blackman, aged 96, on Friday 1 February.
Peter was ordained deacon in 1955, and ordained priest in 1956 in the Diocese of Leicester, serving his curacy at St Andrews, Aylestone until 1960. Peter then served as Vicar, and later as Team Rector, of Ratby cum Groby in the diocese, until July 1993, upon which time he retired to Chichester, where he held the Bishop’s Permission to Officiate from 1993 until 2017.
In his final years, Peter returned to Leicester, living in Stoney Stanton. He leaves behind his beloved adult children Helen, Richard, and Rachel.
Peter’s funeral is to be held on Thursday 29 February at 12midday at St Philip and St James, Ratby, to which all are welcome.
