The Revd Helen Hayes

The Bishop announces that The Revd Helen Hayes is resigning from her role as Non-Stipendiary Pioneer Priest in the West Leicester Mission Partnership, with effect from Sunday 31st March 2019. Helen and her husband Mick are moving up to the Peak District which means that Helen is no longer able to be involved with the mission partnership churches on Sundays. Helen will continue her ministry with people who are homeless at SoundCafé and One Roof Leicester, and in due course will hold the Bishop’s Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Leicester.

Helen would like to extend her huge thanks to the West Leicester Mission Partnership for all their support and care over the last five years saying: “The West Leicester Mission Partnership has empowered and enabled me to explore my pioneer ministry with people who are homeless and for that I am profoundly grateful. Without the love, care and especially prayers of the mission partnership I could never have carried out my ministry. I have loved being licensed as a Pioneer Priest to the mission partnership and it has shown just what can be achieved when churches work together on mission and outreach. Both SoundCafe (a safe creative space for people who are homeless)and One Roof Leicester (provider of  temporary accommodation and a multi-faith winter night shelter) have been amazing projects to be a part of, showing how faith can be active and make a difference in people’s lives, especially in the way that love and care is given to people in desperate need. I look forward to continuing my work with SoundCafe and One Roof Leicester and the work of raising the profile in the diocese of the issues of homelessness and campaigning against the unjust systems in our society that oppress those most in need.”
