It is with sadness that we announce the death of Mr Michael Chamberlain OBE, aged 86, on Monday 27th October 2025 after a short illness.
Formally a member of the Archbishops' Council and chairman of its finance committee for many years during the Nineties and early Noughties, Michael also served as Director of The Leicester Diocesan Board of Finance between 1991 and 2000. During his time, Michael was a director of Allchurches Trust, and trustee of many other charities. In 1982 Michael was made Canon at Leicester Cathedral, a title which he held until 2014, becoming Canon Emeritus until his passing. In 2007 he was awarded OBE for services to the Church of England.
Close friend and colleague to Michael, Madeleine Wang, writes, ‘This quiet humble man will be sadly missed by us all’.
Michael leaves behind his beloved partner, Geoffrey.
