Archdeacon of Leicester

The Bishop of Leicester is seeking a senior colleague who will help lead the parishes, minster communities, fresh expressions of church, chaplaincies and schools of the diocese as we seek to grow in depth of discipleship, numbers of disciples and loving service of the world.

The Archdeaconry covers both the city of Leicester and the eastern half of the rural county of Leicestershire. Interfaith and intercultural ministry is therefore an important part of the role, as is supporting rural villages and market towns. Intergenerational ministry is at the core of our strategy.

Within the Bishop’s Leadership Team, the Archdeacon of Leicester will take responsibility for oversight of particular areas of ministry, which may include:

  • Our intergenerational priority within the diocese
  • Our social responsibility work
  • Our strategy for church buildings and festival churches

We are particularly keen to receive applications from UK Minority Ethnic or Global Majority Heritage priests, who are under-represented on diocesan staff.
