The General Synod is the national decision-making body of the Church of England.
Following the General Synod elections which have been taking place over the last couple of months we are now able to announce that the following have been elected:
Chris Johnson elected to General Synod
Following an election to fill the casual vacancy in the House of Clergy of General Synod caused by the resignation of Wendy Dalrymple, Chris Johnson has been elected and will now serve as a representative of the Diocese for the remainder of the life of this Synod.
Because Wendy’s resignation was effective from July, the process followed was the same as that for the House of Laity election earlier this year (see below).

Nathan Obokoh elected to General Synod
Following an election to fill the casual vacancy in the House of Laity of General Synod caused by the resignation of Venessa Pinto, Nathan Obokoh has been elected and will now serve as a representative of the Diocese for the remainder of the life of this Synod.
When a vacancy occurs in the first two years following the main General Synod elections, the process used is to rerun the voting from the main election, with appropriate adjustments to take account of people who are no longer standing. Nathan joins Shayne Ardron and Roy Faulkner in the House of Laity.

Congratulations to those who have been elected and thank you to all those who stood, voted and helped in running the hustings.
