Breaking County Lines - train the trainer
14th October 2021
County lines is fast becoming one of the most prevalent forms of modern slavery in the UK, and is rife across Leicestershire. Drugs gangs make huge profits from exploiting the most vulnerable - usually children and young people - who are targeted, groomed, manipulated and coerced into drug trafficking and distribution. The Clewer Initiative have offered a Breaking County Lines Train the Trainer course for us in Leicestershire, to enable churches and communities to understand and raise awareness of the scale of the problem, spot the signs of its presence, and build resilience in our communities with an emphasis on the protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

The Breaking County Lines train the trainer course will take place on October 14th, 21st and 28th all sessions run from 14:30-16:30. It seeks to equip leaders who would like to run their own Breaking County Lines Training within their communities. Participants will be encouraged to adapt the material to their own context and to initiate the formation of an action group to undertake practical initiatives to help raise awareness and build community resilience. The course is free of charge and participants will come away with a resource pack containing all the materials needed to run Breaking County Lines within their communities with young people or those working with youth and the vulnerable. The resource pack will include powerpoint presentations, course outlines and all additional resources used in the course.

There are a limited number of places available, but if you are involved in the lives of children or teenagers, either in your church or community (particularly if you are a youth leader, or work/volunteer in a school), or if you are involved in safeguarding in your church or community, or community policing or Neighbourhood Watch, then this could be for you.
