Tuesday 24th September 2019 Social Media Training for Churches
Book your free place on this daytime training at St Martins House, Leicester, with the national Church of England Digital Team. The day will run from 10am-4pm, with one break in the morning for coffee and another for lunch. All attendees should preferably bring a laptop and a smartphone, but a tablet would be fine if they have no access to a laptop. We will look at Facebook Pages, Instagram for churches, AChurchNearYou.com, Language/Tone, Paid Advertising, Audiences and Safeguarding, as well as holding a Social Media Surgery at the end of the day for anyone wo would like individual attention for their church pages. Everyone that attends should be an admin for their church Facebook page, but if they need help setting one up, they are welcome to arrive a little early and we can help them. If anyone doesn’t have a Facebook account, they should sign up in advance of the day, as Facebook’s verification process can take some time. Monday 30th September 2019 The Art of Reconciliation workshop
A workshop for lay leaders and clergy to explore how reconciliation works from 1-4pm. The Kempe Room, St Martins House Free! David Porter was appointed Chief of Staff & Strategy to the Archbishop of Canterbury in 2016. He comes with experience in several Christian organisations at senior staff, CEO & board level and long experience in public affairs. David joined the Lambeth Palace team in 2013 as Director for Reconciliation. At Coventry Cathedral, he held the post of Canon Director for Reconciliation Ministry. He was co-founder and Director of ECONI (Evangelical Contribution on Northern Ireland). David has been an honorary Research Fellow in Peace Studies at Coventry University (2009– 2012) and a visiting Practitioner Fellow (2006) at the Centre for Reconciliation, Duke University Divinity School. From 2007 until 2011, David was a member of the Northern Ireland Community Relations Council. In 2007 he was appointed by the British Government to the independent Consultative Group on the Past. Their report to government in 2009 set out proposals for how to deal with the legacy of the troubles in Northern Ireland. In 2000/03, David served on the Northern Ireland Civic Forum, chairing its working group on peace building & reconciliation. He was a member of the Board of the Evangelical Alliance 1993–2007, serving as its chair from 2005.
