They mark the 12 stages of the story of the crucifixion and have been the focus of prayer and reflection by many on retreat at Launde Abbey. 3. Maundy Thursday 2nd Apr 2012 - The crowds who cheered the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on a donkey are wondering whether they’ve backed the wrong leader. Their man is in trouble with the authorities and the public mood is darkening. For Jesus the task is to leave his disciples with a permanent and endlessly repeatable experience of his presence among them. Characteristically Jesus uses the language of sign and symbol. This is no dictator who forces us to do his will. This is no tyrant who punishes us for opposing him. This is no politician seeking to manipulate our support. Archbishop of Canterbury announces resignation 16th Mar 2012 - The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury has announced today that he will be leaving his position at the end of the year.
