The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

Nominate a deserving voluntary group for The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service This is the highest award that can be given to voluntary groups across the UK, and you could help more Leicestershire groups win this prestigious award. So, if you know of a deserving group, perhaps because you have benefitted from their service, then why not nominate them now!


Together Leicester Community Gifts

The Diocese of Leicester (Board of Finance) has announced a £60,000 fund for gifts to community organisations nominated by their local church. Gifts of £5-10K will be given to projects/organisations will be given to projects/organisations meeting the criteria and nominations must be submitted by the end of September 2019.


Get involved with Ride+Stride 2019

Ride+Stride is an annual church open day and sponsored event organised by the LeicesterShire Historic Churches Trust and around 35 other county Trusts in England and Wales. It raised over £35,000 for churches and chapels in Leicester and Leicestershire last year – and more than £1m nationwide.


Sight Loss Friendly Church

Torch have just launched a new initiative Sight Loss Friendly Church and are inviting churches to sign up. Torch is the only Christian charity dedicated to sight loss in the UK and have 60 years of experience.


St Margaret's Church and Age UK – £10,000 Challenge

St Margaret's Church in the city has partnered with AGE UK Leicester Shire & Rutland to raise £10,000 by Christmas 2019 in donations of Clothing, Books, DVD's, Bric a Brac and Furniture. AGE UK is the largest supplier of services and support across the whole of Leicester and Leicestershire to those people over the age of 50 who are suffering the most through the last 7 years of austerity.


New grants programme: Growing lives

New funding to support work with children and young people launches today! Allchurches Trust has launched a new grants programme – Growing Lives – aimed at helping churches and Christian organisations throughout the UK and Ireland to connect with children and young people and forge lasting links with families in their local area.


Does everyone in your congregation have the opportunity to give generously?

In 2017 the number of people paying by cash fell below the number paying by debit or credit card. The number of cash machines is falling, especially in rural and urban areas, and many machines that used to dispense cash with a charge is also reducing.


Essential Finance for PCCs – A checklist

SCIE Safeguarding Audit 2019 – Leicester Cathedral

I am very pleased to receive the final report from the SCIE independent audit of our Cathedral Safeguarding.
