Diocesan Lent Appeal for Tanzania

We are delighted to announce that this years Lent Appeal will be in support of our Link Diocese in Tanzania.

In 2011 the four bishops agreed to build on the tradition of the Link with Tanzania by supporting one another’s ministry in prayer and understanding, exchange visits and offers of practical and financial assistance.

The appeal will focus on three areas...

Bishop Stanley Has A Dream
People are hungry for the Good News of the Gospel but often there is no church near their homes.
Bishop Stanley wants to plant 300 new churches over the next 5 years.
Pastors rely totally on the offerings of their people. Some months there is nothing.
£50 a month for each Pastor would set them free to spread the Gospel.

Bishop Isaiah Has A Vision
A good education is essential to lift people out of poverty.
The Diocese of Kiteto is blessed with a school, Kiteto Christian College (KCC).
KCC has light airy classrooms but not enough textbooks, not enough desks.
The government requires every school to make pupils computer literate. They have no computers.
They need funds to buy books, desks and suitable computers.

Transport Is A Problem In Tanzania
For Bishop Isaiah and Bishop Stanley to be Good Shepherds to their people they need good transport. A strong 4x4 is the only vehicle that can navigate the rough roads and bring them safely through the treacherous mud of the rainy season. Bishop Stanley has no vehicle.Bishop Isaiah has a vehicle but no funds for fuel or maintenance
If pastors and lay evangelists had bicycles it would be easier for them to reach their churches.
