Tim Stevens, Bishop of Leicester and Vivienne Faull, Dean of Leicester are very pleased that Her Majesty the Queen is to begin her Jubilee regional visits in Leicester.
Leicester Cathedral is giving the people of Leicester the opportunity to write their own personal message of thanks and support to Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee. The Big Jubilee Thank You Letter launched by the Bishop today (Monday 13th February) is available in Leicester Cathedral for anyone who wishes to send their message of congratulations to the Queen.
The Big Jubilee Thank You Letter is a Church of England initiative running at churches and cathedrals throughout the country. It is hoped that thousands of visitors to Leicester Cathedral will write a short message or letter. All the letters will then be bound into a single volume and sent to London, to be presented to the Queen along with similar collections from across the country.
The Very Revd Vivienne Faull, Dean of Leicester said, “This is a rare and real opportunity to express in a few words a sign of thanks and appreciation, for the Queen’s dutiful reign over the last 60 years. The Queen is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England and so we at the Cathedral are delighted to provide this opportunity for all the diverse communities of Leicester and Leicestershire.”
Leicester Cathedral is open daily, from 8.00am – 6.00pm Monday to Saturday, and from 7.00am – 5.00pm on Sundays.
