  1. Good Friday

Good Friday 6th Apr 2012 - Last year children from our church schools erected 12 crosses in the grounds of Launde Abbey. They mark the 12 stages of the story of the crucifixion and have been the focus of prayer and reflection by many on retreat at Launde Abbey. Yet, in spite of the setting or the beauty of the English countryside in spring, we must not romanticise or sentimentalise the Cross. It is an instrument of torture and execution. Continue Reading
  2. Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday 2nd Apr 2012 - The crowds who cheered the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on a donkey are wondering whether they’ve backed the wrong leader. Their man is in trouble with the authorities and the public mood is darkening. For Jesus the task is to leave his disciples with a permanent and endlessly repeatable experience of his presence among them. Characteristically Jesus uses the language of sign and symbol.
