All Soul’s Day Requiem Eucharist Burbage
last updated on: 2nd Feb 2012
Many people who have been bereaved have come to appreciate the All Soul’s Day Requiem Eucharist at St Catherine’s, Burbage. The service, at which Faure’s Requiem is sung and the names of those we grieve are read, has given all who come an opportunity to give thanks for the lives of those who have died and to find some comfort in the words of the service.
It is not possible to hold the service on the regular date of the 2nd November this year as the Church of St Catherine is closed for the installation of a new heating system. The service has been transferred to the 2nd February 2012 for this year (reverting to the 2nd November date), and will take place at St Catherine’s at 7.30pm on that date.
“We have been worshipping at St Peter’s, Aston Flamville, during the time St Catherine’s has been closed,” said the Revd Dr Bob Stephen, Associate Vicar, “and it simply would not have been able to accommodate the numbers that attend this service. Rather than cancel it we wanted to be sure that people could still come to honour those they love but who have died. We will be asking for those who want to submit names to be read nearer the time – once we have got the Christmas season out of the way!”
