Wholeness and Healing

last updated on: 27th Oct 2011

To the lost Christ shows his face; to the unloved he gives his embrace;
to those who cry in pain or disgrace,
Christ makes with his friends  A TOUCHING PLACE.

Those of us who are involved in the Ministry of Wholeness & Healing are aiming to provide a touching place – somewhere to experience God’s love in the gentle touch of hands, supporting and  holding, with words of reassurance, peace and love, as we pray for God’s healing; a focus for all the loving and caring that should be a normal part of every Christian community.

The Diocesan Committee for Wholeness & Healing is made up of  representatives from the Deaneries, the Director of Mission and Ministry (Canon Mike Harrison) and others, including a Hospital Chaplain (still to be appointed), and the Bishop’s Advisor for Ministry of Deliverance, and is chaired by Brian Davis.

Our aim is to support and encourage the ministry of Wholeness & Healing in the parishes of the Diocese.

A Six Week basic Wholeness & Healing Course

‘Growing in Wholeness – a Practical Course to encourage Personal Growth in Wholeness & develop the church’s Ministry of Healing’  produced by Roger Matthews, for the Diocese of Chelmsford.  A six week course using CD-ROM.

This has been put on at several venues during  2008/9 and the course revised to be fit for purpose.

Who is the course for?   The course is open  to any mature Christians who want to explore how they can be involved in this ministry.

'Growing in wholeness’  PART 2  which has been developed by Mike Harrison is for those who those who definitely want to be involved in this ministry and have the backing of their parish priest.

Day Conferences

Watch out for future day conferences on Wholeness & Healing

Written by Brian Davis on different aspects of the Ministry of Wholeness & Healing:

1. ‘A TOUCHING PLACE’
Thoughts on PRAYER FOR WHOLENESS & HEALING, of mind, body & spirit with the laying on of hands.

2.   A MIDDLE WAY
A booklet which endeavours to steer a middle way between  on the one hand those who seem to suggest that all you need is faith and you can be healed, and on the other those whose scepticism seems to rule out any role for God and the spiritual altogether in the healing process. Among other issues I explain what we mean by ‘wholeness’, and I try to tackle the difficult questions about why some are healed and not others.

Brian will happily send you either of the above free, he just asks for cost of  packing & postage. Or he can email them to you as attachments.
