How Diomail works!

We've had a lot of questions in recent weeks about how to get items onto Diomail so we thought we'd give you all a reminder the process as well as some tips for adding your events or diomail entries.

Unfortunately, we are unable to use written requests as we have very little capacity to be able to copy type.
We try to add entries to the website as they come in during the week but sometimes this is not possible so they will be added on Monday morning.
These entries sit on two pages of the website: Diomail: http://www.leicester.anglican.org/blogs/ and Events: http://www.leicester.anglican.org/events/
To view these pages directly hover the mouse over 'Home' and then click on one of the links in the red bar below.

This provides a full list of all the entries going back many weeks (diomail) or many months into the future on the events page. There's nothing to stop you adding your Christmas events now as they will stay on this page until they have occurred.
For those adding entries here are some tips to make sure your entry is displayed as you want it.
- If you're sending an email please provide it as text only. We can't use posters or pdf documents, so keep it simple.
- Give it a title (with a general location: e.g. Open Gardens, Coalville is much more helpful than just Open Gardens)
- Use the date format Day(s) Date(s) Month as below)
- Provide a two/three line summary of the key details. We call this 'the snippet' and this is what shows in the list on the website and on the weekly email (and In Shape). See below for examples. Continue reading allows those interested to read more details about your event that are perhaps less critical

The less 'we' have to interpret and rewrite the easier it is for us and also the less chance of us leaving out what you may feel is a key detail.
Once all the entries we receive are added to the website for the week then it gets copied into the email you receive each week.
We also add in the website news stories and announcments (again, you can view these anytime at http://www.leicester.anglican.org/news/ and http://www.leicester.anglican.org/about-us/announcements/).
Due to the volume of events we can usually only adding upcoming events for the next 2/3 weeks. If your event is further away it will still be on the full website list so it is always worth adding events well in advance. This is especially the case to get your events into the quarterly 'In Shape'. The deadline for the next issue is August 1st for events in September, October and November.
