FareShare Leicester Annual Report 2013
last updated on: 16th Oct 2013
As anticipated, this last year has been the most significant in the development of FareShare Leicester since we started. We now lease warehouse premises which have been fitted out with racking, a walk-in chiller unit and other equipment to support our operations. We have our own dedicated vehicles (one chiller van and one plain van) and a forklift truck. We now operate
five days a week. The step up in accommodation, facilities and equipment has allowed us to more than double the number of member groups we supply. Since April 2013, our activities have extended outside the City and County, with the introduction of deliveries to satellite hubs in North
Warwickshire and Derbyshire, each supplying eight member groups.
Raising the profile of food poverty in our society is an important part of our work. We have been featured on BBC East Midlands TV, the subject of a 30 minute documentary by BBC Radio
Leicester and were keynote speakers at the Derby Cathedral Global Hunger Summit.
We have strengthened our Board and are pleased to welcome John Orridge as a new Trustee. He brings a wealth of financial management experience to the role.
FareShare Leicester has concluded the year by completing the preparations to introduce a chilled food service. This will generate a major new offering in the type and range of food we can supply and the organisations we can support. More information on all our activities can be found in the report.
